May 12, 2020 From Sunlife:
Extending some of our claims practice exceptions to July 31, 2020
As we previously communicated, to support plan members during COVID-19, we’ve made some exceptions to our claims practices. Some of these exceptions were going to be in place until June 1, 2020. However, we understand it may take plan members some time to get an appointment when health-care providers re-open their offices. So, we are extending these exceptions to July 31, 2020.
Update: Continuing benefits coverage during COVID-19
There is a change to continuing coverage during temporary lay-offs. You may maintain coverage during a temporary layoff for six months, instead of three months. This applies to all benefits, except disability.
We’re making plan administration even easier for your Clients
We’re introducing a new “enhanced access” feature to our Plan Sponsor Services (PSS) website. This feature will make it easier for your Clients to give new users access to Group Benefits Administration.
We’re updating our “Rehabilitation Earnings Statement” to make administration easier for Clients
We know that managing disability claims can mean more administration. We’ve updated the Rehabilitation Earnings Statement to include both Short Term Disability (STD) and Long Term Disability (LTD) on the same form. We’ve also created a second version of this form specific to Administrative Services Only (ASO) Deduction Support plans.
